Woven Arts are Awesome

I started crocheting many years ago. I had heard it was a good way to fight anxiety. It seemed like it might also be an inexpensive hobby so I gave it a shot. I mostly make simple pieces. Hats, scarves, phone slings, blankets, the occasional figurine.
More recently, I got started with knitting. I think crochet is easier but I like the way knitting helps achieve even stitching in a way I never could with crochet.
But what I really love about woven arts in general is that if you make a mistake, you can just unravel your work and try again. Sometimes when I’m trying a new pattern or learning a new stitch, I start over several times. No harm. No foul.
And the bonus round – tons of people make videos to help you along. If you aren’t able to follow how one person is doing the thing you are trying to learn, you can just find a different video to watch. It’s a very giving community.
Want to try something that is endlessly forgiving? Grab some yarn and a crochet hook and go for it!
