The Power of Fiction

You know what I love about fiction? It can be anything. Anything can be anything. You can build your own world and make all the rules, or have no rules.
I mean, have you read Douglas Adams? Many describe his genre as comedy science fiction. I call it absurdist science fiction. Nothing makes any sense and everything makes perfect sense all at the same time. Adams wrote without limits.
And lots of other authors followed his example. Take vampires. Are they living or dead? Do they eat food or only drink blood? Daywalkers? Humans with fangs or mindless killers? When you write fiction, you get to decide.
That’s kind of powerful, don’t you think?
