Dream the Impossible Dream

The quote comes from the song “The Impossible Dream (The Quest)” composed by Mitch Leigh with lyrics by Joe Darion. It was originally written in 1965 for the musical “Man of La Mancha.”
I’ve never seen the musical or the 1972 film of the same name. But the song has been recorded by various artists well over 50 times. If you’ve never heard it, please seek it out.
It’s a power ballad about defying the odds. It lists several of these:
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go
To right the unrightable wrong
To love, pure and chaste, from afar
To try, when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star
and so on.
It ends by explaining that doing so will make the world better because someone battered by life chose to keep going. And while my goals may not be so grandiose, nor my lows intolerable, I keep going.
Most recently, this has helped me obtain a professional certificate (CAPM) that I hope will assist in my job search. Which, until now, has certainly felt impossible.
And failing that, I have another impossible dream that won’t let me go: to become a well-known author. I’ll definitely never stop aiming at that star. The stories keep coming, and I’ll keep writing them.
